Championship club Oldham have confirmed the immediate departure of Zane Musgrove with a succinct statement published online.
Musgrove only joined the club in May after leaving Super League club Warrington Wolves half-way through the season.
The hope was that he would be able to help Oldham take the next step and push towards the top of the Championship table. Unfortunately, Musgrove’s time of Oldham has been nothing short of frustrating with the forward being hit with an eight-match ban in June.
That ban related to an incident which occurred in the Challenge Cup semi-final clash between Warrington and Leigh Leopards in May, with Musgrove pleading guilty to the use of unacceptable language.
That ruled him out of a huge chunk of Oldham’s remaining fixtures, but he was due to return for the final weeks of the campaign. That will not be the case now though, with Oldham confirming he has left the club.
The reason behind his exit remains unknown but the club announced it in a 20-word statement this afternoon.

Their statement simply read: “We can confirm that Zane Musgrove has left the club.
“We thank Zane for his efforts in an Oldham shirt.”
Musgrove made just three appearances for Oldham, with his debut coming in the win over Halifax Panthers in May. He went on to play against Hunslet and Toulouse Olympique, too, with a first and only Oldham try coming in the latter contest.
He spent a season and a half with Warrington, making 38 outings in primrose and blue, while he also counts South Sydney Rabbitohs, Wests Tigers and St George Illawarra Dragons as former clubs.
