St Helens

Off-contract St Helens forward Morgan Knowles is reportedly the subject of a “lot of interest” from one NRL side per reports Down Under.

Knowles, who has just played in his testimonial match for St Helens, is one of several Saints stars off-contract at the end of the 2025 season and there has been plenty of discussions about the loose forward’s future.

Having played over 200 games with St Helens, the 28-year-old has spoken on his desire to have clarity on his situation before the start of the 2025 Super League season.

Speaking to Serious About Rugby League, the England international said: There’s some bits going on at the moment so I’m hoping to get that done before the season starts.”

With the Super League season less than three weeks away, it is now being reported Down Under that Knowles is the subject of interest from an NRL club for the 2026 season creating yet more uncertainty around his future.

Those reports have come from AAP’s Joel Gould who told the ‘Run Home with Joel and Fletch’ show that the Dolphins are primed to strike and sign the off-contract St Helens man.

The Dolphins are coached by former St Helens boss Kristian Woolf and he has reportedly identified Knowles as a key piece for the 2026 campaign.

Gould explained: “The Dolphins haven’t given much away on this but what I can tell you is that Knowles won three Premierships in a row with Kristian Woolf, and he’s a big fan of his.

“You can take it that they are in talks. He’s contracted for this year and for 2026 he’d be a great buy for the Dolphins.”

On what can be expected going forward, Gould stated: “Where there’s smoke, there’s fire with this one. I think it’s a case of watching this space and waiting for when the Dolphins end up signing him.

“My mail is there’s a lot of interest there and there’s talks been going on for a while.”

Whether St Helens can keep Knowles remains to be seen with the Red Vee losing Lewis Dodd to the NRL last year following lengthy contract talks.
