One of the remaining off-contract Super League stars, a former Leigh Leopards man has signed with a new club ahead of the 2025 season.
As of December 1st, just 18 players from the 2024 Super League season remained without a deal for the upcoming 2025 season.
Since then, names on the list such as Paul Momirovski and Tom Opacic have found deals with the two overseas centres linking up with clubs in France and back Down Under respectively.
Momirovski has signed with Lezignan in the French Elite One division whilst ex-Hull KR man Opacic is training with Redcliffe Dolphins, his boyhood club and the feeder team of the NRL side.
Now, another one of the overseas centres on that initial list of Super League players without a contract has found a club for the upcoming season as former Huddersfield Giants and Leigh Leopards man Ricky Leutele has signed with Queensland Cup side Souths Logan Magpies.

The 34-year-old centre had been linked with a return to Huddersfield Giants by Sky Sports’ Jenna Brooks, something that Giants’ coach Luke Robinson did comment on.
Asked about the reports, he said: “Whenever we’re linked with players like that it’s going to be a good thing. He’d be a handy player to have in your team, yeah.”
At that point, back in August, Huddersfield had four quota spots and they have filled three of them which has seen them sign Fijian centre Taane Milne.
As for Leutele though, he’s returned Down Under anyway and linked up with Souths Logan Magpies in his hometown of Brisbane meaning he’s set for a season Down Under for the first time since 2020.
Leutele initially made the move to Toronto Wolfpack before joining Huddersfield for two seasons and then more recently Leigh Leopards.
At Leigh, he won the Challenge Cup and helped them to the play-offs in both campaigns whilst – making 50 appearances across the two seasons.
Signing with Souths, he joins a team showing aspiration in their competition with the Magpies having just signed Samoan international Anthony Milford after his release from the Dolphins.
