Off-contract Hull KR star sees future confirmed after signing new deal

Hull KR have handed a new contract to one of their overseas players, with Peta Hiku agreeing terms to remain at Craven Park.

Hiku, who joined the Robins ahead of the 2024 season, has put pen to paper on a new one-year deal, keeping him at the club for a fourth year.

The former New Zealand international has featured for the club on 74 occasions, and has crossed for 26 tries in that time.

A member of KR’s treble-winning squad last season, Hiku featured in 33 of 34 matches for the club last season, which is the most he has played in a single season throughout his career.

The 201-time NRL player will turn 34 in December, but he is showing no signs of slowing down and in 2026 is averaging over 100 metres per game.

Hiku spoke to the press last week outlining his desire to stay at Craven Park, and his wish has now been granted.

Speaking on his new contract, the centre said: “I’m excited. Ever since I’ve been here, Hull KR have been so welcoming, and it’s been an awesome club to be a part of. My family is happy here, and that’s what makes it an easy decision.

“I always knew I wanted to stay here. I want to go out there and play footy and enjoy it. Then come off the field and enjoy our fans and our club.”

Boss Willie Peters added: “Peta Hiku has been an exceptional signing for the club and thoroughly deserves this contract extension.

“Peta is in our leadership group and has a big influence on the team, on and off the field, and he is a likeable character.

“I’m looking forward to working with Peta for the rest of the season and creating more memories as we have done over the last two and a half years.”

Great news, he’s a great player, brings much more as well to the player group. I’m delighted for him and his family.
