NRL to reevaluate trainers on the field rule

Rugby League mistake

After multiple years of fan complaints and Sunday night’s incident where a Sydney Roosters trainer unintentionally interfered with play during the NRL Grand Final, the NRL are set to review the rules pertaining to time spent on the field by trainers at any one time.

A likely result of this reevaluation will be a time limit or more specific restrictions being placed on when a trainer can be on the field.

In the past, we have seen trainers spend multiple minutes on the field after play has restarted following a stoppage, at times to tend to a player or yell out tips and advice on what they should be doing.

This review will likely see trainers no longer allowed on the field once play has recommenced.
