NRL tipped to copy “revolutionary” Super League rule

Earlier this week, Rugby League Live revealed plans to revamp the green card system in Super League.

Now the rule is set to be stricter meaning any player who remains down injured will be shown a green card and removed from the field for two minutes.

Players can reportedly receive the green card if they are down injured in the ruck or away from the ball.

This was an issue that was frequently discussed by coaches last year, so it is no surprise that Super League could take action in this way.

Now the NRL is being tipped to emulate Super League.

Like in Super League, this was a major topic of discussion in the NRL last season and now Fox League is reporting that those at the top of the NRL will be monitoring how this stricter green card system works with the intention of using it themselves to solve their problems should it work effectively.

The publication described it as “revolutionary” believing that it could help the NRL in one of its biggest problem areas after injuries, especially head injuries, and the speed of the game have been widely discussed in recent times as we understand head injuries more and more.
