NRL star’s agent reveals discussions with Super League clubs as move becomes possible

Daniel Tupou has previously been linked with St Helens

Daniel Tupou is one of the best wingers on the planet.

He is an NRL winner and shone in the World Cup for Tonga.

A huge, tall and powerful winger, he is a dangerous force on the flank and has been a consistent performer in the NRL.

However, he could now be headed to Super League or rugby union.

Tupou is set to have a huge decision on his hands as the Roosters strengthen their backline.

And, according to the Sydney Morning Herald, the winger is set to consider “a big money move to Super League.”

They stated: “Daniel Tupou will soon have to decide whether to remain at the Sydney Roosters – and complete the tallest, most intimidating back line in the NRL – or entertain a big-money move to the Super League or Japanese Rugby.”

This all comes of course after the news about Dom Young.

The winger had wanted to confirm his future before the start of the 2023 campaign, which begins in early March, something that had been confirmed by his agent, and has now come true with news that he’s signed with another club for 2024.

Trent Robinson, coach of the Sydney Roosters, had reportedly wined and dined Young last week but was one of a number of coaches to have done so with the former England man.

However it appears that Robinson’s meeting had the desired effect with the Daily Telegraph reporting that Young will sign with the Roosters for 2024 and beyond.

It’s believed that he had received huge offers ranging upwards of $500,000 a season, but ultimately it’s the Roosters who he has signed for.

This could all see Tupou head to Super League with his agent Sam Ayoub telling the Sydney Morning Herald: “When I say options for Daniel, I mean in the NRL, Super League of Japanese rugby because we have had previous discussions with all of them.”

So, Tupou has previously considered a move to Super League and it is on the cards again.
