The likes of James Tedesco and co have already spoken about adjusting to the differing conditions in the UK compared to back home in Australia.

He spoke about how players were “slipping and sliding” on the training field and that it was something they had to get used to.

Nothing highlighted this more than an injury suffered by one of Australia’s young stars Harry Grant.

The incident was captured by 9News cameras with Grant chasing teammate Reuben Cotter, dived to tackle him, slid and collided with the post.

Grant was able to finish the session but was forced to do so with ice strapped to his ribs.

This is another indicator that conditions are a lot wetter over here than they would be in Australia highlighting the need for Australia’s many debutants, Grant included, to adjust as quick as possible.

Grant was just hours earlier included in the 17 for Australia’s opening game against Fiji, and still looks set to play despite pain management.

On the incident, he told 9News: “I cleaned the post up, but I’m not too bad. I got through the session pretty good.

“It was just a bit of pain at the start.”

It also sounds like it would take a lot to deny him his debut.

“Every Aussie kid growing up dreams of playing for Australia,” Grant noted.

“I remember the World Cups back in the day, getting up, setting alarms at all hours of the night to get up and watch the games.

“To be here doing it now is pretty special.”
