NRL star set to join huge Super League club

Leeds Rhinos, Wigan Warriors, Warrington Wolves, Hull FC, Hull KR and Huddersfield Giants have all completed major signings for the 2024 season from the NRL.

These include Matt Frawley, Lachie Miller, Kruise Leeming, Lachlan Fitzgibbon, Herman Ese’ Franklin Pele and Jack Murchie with more set to come.

One of these is Brenko Lee who has now been officially released by The Dolphins to make a move to Super League.

There was talk of him joining Leeds Rhinos as a replacement for Nene MacDonald but instead he is expected to join Catalans Dragons.

According to The Mole of Wide World of Sports, Wigan were also interested in the Dolphins centre.

The Tongan international and Queensland representative joined the NRL’s newest club for their inaugural season and according to the Notorious Mole, the club could have lost him to Wigan Warriors.

The 27-year-old could have received a long term deal at the DW Stadium according to the Mole.

He has another year left on his deal with the NRL club but they were set to allow him to leave if he secured the move to the Warriors for 2024.

However, Wigan went in a different direction as they announced that Adam Keighran has signed a two-year deal with the club from the 2024 season yesterday.

The 26-year-old, who has played at centre, stand-off and hooker, will join the Warriors after the completion of the current season with the Catalans Dragons.

He began his career at Penrith Panthers playing in the New South Wales Cup where he was picked as one of two centres of the year, before making his first grade debut for the New Zealand Warriors in Round One of the 2019 season.

He then had two seasons at the Sydney Roosters making 17 NRL appearances before joining the Catalans Dragon for the 2023 season.

Adam Keighran said: “My family and I are looking forward to the next 2 years at Wigan.

“I’m eager to continue learning and improving my game under the staff there, learn the history of the Club and hoping to add to the success the Club already has.”

Wigan Head Coach Matt Peet added: “We are excited to welcome Adam and his family to Wigan.

“His form for Catalans has been excellent this season and I look forward to working with him. He will bring athleticism and a high skill level to our back line.”

This means Lee is still available for 2024 should a Super League club look to offer him a similar deal.

A top quality player, it would be a smart signing for a number of clubs.
