NRL star set to complete huge Super League move ahead of 2024

NRL star Brenko Lee will be joining a Super League club ahead of the 2024 season but who he will sign for remains to be seen.

The centre was linked with Wigan Warriors, Leeds Rhinos and Catalans Dragons but the centre was unable to secure a move to a Super League yet but the centre is still bound for Europe as per reports from Australia.

There are three clubs who could sign the centre in the shape St Helens, Catalans Dragons and Salford Red Devils.

The Dragons don’t actually have a quota spot available at present after Siua Taukeiaho completed a stunning u-turn to return to the club after his move to Canterbury Bulldogs collapsed following a failed medical which requires surgery.

Despite having surgery in France, the club are considering a route away from the Tongan international to open a quota spot and they could sign Lee to replace Adam Keighran who took the spot of Lee at Wigan Warriors.

Meanwhile, St Helens is set to sign a centre but will they sign Lee who has been on the market for a number of months only for St Helens to look elsewhere.

But Salford Red Devils could very well make the move for the centre then with a quota spot open and a revamp of their backline after success the club has had having revamped the careers of likes of Tim Lafai and could do so again with Lee.

The Red Devils have made a number of signings including Wigan Warriors star Joe Shorrocks. Shorrocks was ‘over the moon’ to finally confirm his transfer to Salford Red Devils.

The utility forward has penned a three-year deal and linked-up with his new teammates this morning for pre-season training.

At just 23, Shorrocks has already made 69 Betfred Super League appearances, but he is determined to boost them numbers by securing a regular spot in the team.

With a Super League and Challenge Cup winners medal already in his locker, Wigan-born Shorrocks knows exactly what it takes to compete at the highest level.

Making the switch to Salford allows him to share that experience with a dressing room who are desperate to achieve silverware in 2024.

“Over the moon,” he exclusively told the club’s official YouTube channel when asked about to describe how it feels to complete a transfer.

“I’m happy to finally get the move done and I’m just fully focused on starting pre-season now with the boys, and getting ripped-in.”

With a year still remaining on his Warriors deal, Shorrocks was at a crossroads, but a conversation with our Head Coach and Director of Rugby, firmly made up his mind.

“Well I had a lot of conversations with friends, family,” he continued.

“This is the right move for me; hopefully to get some more playing time, but when I met with Rowls and Bleasy, that really confirmed my decision to join.”

A lot of players have credited Rowley with their rapid improvement since joining the club.

Shorrocks’ ex-Wigan and now Salford teammate, Oliver Partington is another example of that – so he will be hoping to follow closely in his footsteps.

With pre-season finally underway, Shorrocks will be looking to form new relationships in the team and work towards starting 2024 in the best way possible.
