There is talk about halfbacks at Leeds Rhinos, Wigan Warriors, Hull FC, Leigh Leopards, Salford Red Devils and Catalans Dragons whilst there are questions over former Huddersfield Giants star Jack Cogger.
Cogger joined the Giants in 2021 and would operate as a great option in the halves and at hooker for Ian Watson’s side.
Cogger would even start in the halves for the Giants last year in the Challenge Cup Final with the likes of Theo Fages and Will Pryce absent at the Tottenham Hotspurs Stadium.
Cogger left the club at the end of last year joining Penrith Panthers as cover for world class stars Jerome Luai and Nathan Cleary but his contract is coming to an end and thus a number of clubs are interested in him included the Newcastle Knights who have emerged as favourites to sign the halfback which could have an impact on one Super League club.
One of Super League’s most in form players, Jake Clifford has looked like the best number seven in Super League.
Following this former Hull FC and Hull KR star Paul Cooke said he could return to the NRL and now a club has entered the race to sign him in the shape of his former club the North Queensland Cowboys.
Meanwhile, Wests Tigers, still looking for a halfback after Luke Brooks’ decision to join Manly Sea Eagles for 2024, are interested according to the Daily Telegraph who report:
“Wests Tigers have been offered Jake Clifford but a North Queensland homecoming looms more likely for the ex-Cowboys and Newcastle playmaker
“Clifford joined Hull FC this year but is expected to return to the NRL in 2024.
“The Cowboys have discussed signing the 25-year-old to add some depth to their halves.”
Now Jon Wells has reported on Sky Sports that the North Queensland Cowboys have made an offer for the halfback.
It was reported by the Hull Daily Mail that he has agreed to this offer.
Following this, the Daily Telegraph in Australia has also confirmed the news down under making it almost certain that Clifford will be playing for North Queensland in 2024.
Now Sky Sports Jenna Brooks has confirmed Hull FC will look to replace him but will be patient to find the right signing.
The reports from Hull Daily Mail are that the Black and Whites have their target in the shape of Adam Clune from the Newcastle Knights.
With Cogger set to link up with the Knights in 2024, does this forecast Clune’s move to Hull FC?
