NRL star set for huge Super League move

Leeds Rhinos, Wigan Warriors and Hull FC are all in the market to sign a halfback or two for the 2024 season.

The Rhinos have lost Blake Austin for the rest of this year. It is believed that the club and player were unable to reach an agreement over a deal for next year and the stand-off then requested his release joining Castleford Tigers for the rest of the 2023 season. Where he will be in 2024 remains to be seen but there has been reported interest from Featherstone Rovers.

Meanwhile, Aidan Sezer is set to join Wests Tigers. As for Wigan, Cade Cust is out of contract and has shifted to hooker.

They are interested in halfbacks as are Hull FC after the loss of Jake Clifford to North Queensland Cowboys for 2024.

The Black and Whites have again turned to Newcastle Knights though for signings reportedly looking at Adam Clune,

Recently that interest was confirmed by Newcastle Herald reporter Barry Toohey.

“I think there is interest. Hull are keen on Adam Clune and that is the talk. Whether he is prepared to go to England, I’m not 100% sure and there is talk that he is not,” Toohey said on the Toohey’s News podcast.

“I know the Knights haven’t discarded signing Adam Clune for next season. I’m not sure how far Hull are down the track with Clune or even if they are down the track with Clune going to England.

“I think he would be very good over there, he has played the last few NSW Cup games and he has played very well. I would try and keep him.”

Time will tell whether Hull bring in yet another player from the Newcastle Knights.

Jake Clifford and Tex Hoy have both been successful signings so far and they will be hoping they can repeat that success with Clune as a replacement for the brilliant Clifford.

There has been talk that Leeds Rhinos and perhaps other Super League clubs could make a move for Clune.

However, according to Toohey he is headed to England with the reporter stating on social media “he is headed to England in 2024” when asked by fans.

Adding to this it has been claimed by the Mole of Wide World of Sports that he is now set to complete a move to Huddersfield Giants who have swooped in and beaten Hull FC to his signature.
