NRL star Roger Tuivasa-Sheck’s message to fans after ACL injury as update provided on ex-Leeds Rhinos man

Wakefield Trinity

Following the news that his 2026 season, and his NRL career, are now over, soon-to-be Wakefield Trinity man Roger Tuivasa-Sheck has released a message to fans.

After leaving the field after just 11 minutes in New Zealand Warriors’ win over St George Illawarra Dragons on Saturday, the initial fears were that he had suffered an ACL injury.

With scans now revealing the full extent of his blow, RTS has revealed that that is the case, with the dual-code international now expected to miss the next nine months of action.

Tuivasa-Sheck, who turns 33 next week, has now played the final game of his NRL career, as he now prepares to recover ahead of his debut season with Wakefield in Super League.

The outside back is one of many players already confirmed to be making the switch across the world ahead of 2027, and whilst he would have loved to have gone out on his own terms, injury has stopped that from happening.

RTS is the second Warriors player in as many weeks to injure his ACL, with in-form half-back Tanah Boyd rupturing his cruciate ligament in round 11 against Brisbane Broncos.

Following the scan results, Tuivasa-Sheck has posted an update on his Instagram account.

He said: “That’s my footy done this year…

“ACL confirmed. Tough to accept, but the season goes on. We got something special going. Big love for all the messages.

NRL side offer update on former Leeds Rhinos man

The Warriors have provided an injury round-up after Tuivasa-Sheck and Boyd’s respective injuries, but another man they included in their list is former Leeds Rhinos forward, Morgan Gannon.

Gannon departed the Rhinos at the end of 2025 to take up a three-year deal with the Wahs, but things haven’t really gone to plan on the field.

Making his NRL debut in March, the back rower lasted just five minutes into his debut before needing to leave the field due to concussion.

Gannon has suffered a number of concussions early in his career, and as a result he missed the entire 2024 season in order to fully recover. Luckily, he was able to return for the Wahs just a fortnight later.

Since his debut, he has played in four reserve grade games, however the Warriors, with the most recent game being on May 17. However, Gannon is said to be on ‘personal leave’ with a TBC placed against when he could return.
