NRL star jailed in relation to stabbing

Rugby League mistake

Manly Sea Eagles hooker Manase Fainu is in jail after being denied bail for allegedly stabbing another man with a 10cm knife on Friday.

The 21-year-old has been charged with ‘wound person with intent to cause grievous bodily harm, affray and recklessly cause grievous bodily harm in company’ following an incident involving a 24-year-old man at a church dance event.

New South Wales Police issued a statement on Tuesday confirming they had arrested a 21-year-old man at around 8:10am, after Fainu handed himself in.

He was denied bail on Tuesday by a magistrate at Liverpool Local Court.

The incident also means Fainu is unable to play rugby league until his case has finished, after the NRL enacted its no-fault stand-down policy.
