NRL and South Sydney Rabbitohs star Jai Arrow has announced he has to retire from rugby league after being diagnosed with Motor Neurone Disease.
Arrow, 30, revealed the news earlier today, doing so in a press conference alongside Rabbitohs CEO, Blake Solly.
Motor Neurone Disease, or MND, is the same awful condition that Leeds Rhinos legend Rob Burrow and rugby union icon Doddie Weir suffered following their retirements from the sport.
Arrow retires from the game after making 178 NRL appearances, as well as playing 12 times for Queensland in State of Origin.
Named Rabbitohs’ player of the year in 2025, Arrow featured for the Brisbane Broncos and Gold Coast Titans before making the move to Souths ahead of the 2021 season.
The thoughts of everyone at Serious About Rugby League are with Jai and his family at such a heartbreaking time.
