NRL star charged reportedly over alleged hammer attack

NRL player Talatau Amone has been charged over an alleged incident which occurred earlier in 2022.

A member of the St George Illawarra Dragons side, the club have subsequently made a statement.

It reads as follows:

“Dragons player Talatau Amone has been charged in relation to an alleged incident earlier this year.

“The club has notified the NRL integrity unit.

“As this is a legal matter the club will be making no further comment.”

According to the Sydney Morning Herald he has been hit with a number of charges pertaining to an alleged hammer attack near his home.

He has subsequently been denied bail.

It is not an ideal situation for the club especially as they deal with other recent controversies.

At the end of last season only three of their top 30 attended the end of season awards at the club.

Meanwhile, there was a recent scrap between players at a training session in front of fans which has sparked widespread discussion.

Furthermore, the club has suggested a controversial name change which would end the harmony between the two clubs who came together to form this side with the Illawarra part of the name potentially being dropped in the near future.
