Social media can be both a curse and a blessing in modern times.
Unfortunately, for one NRL forward it has been the former this past week after he fell victim of a death hoax.
A Twitter user revealed a montage of sportsmen taken from the world too soon: “All these young sportsmen have recently died of sudden heart failure, all vaxxed.”
One of those pictured was Manly Sea Eagles forward Marty Taupau, who instantly hit back with a piece of his own mind.
Taupau blasted: “Psssst F*wit! @Lolita721611021 get your facts right before you write this sort of garbage #covidiot“.

It’s not exactly a good look when an anti-vaxxer attempts to get their point across by using the photo of a sportsman who is well and truly alive.
Of course, to make up for it, a number of Taupau’s followers jumped on the bandwagon with a series of hilarious tweets in response.
One user replied: “What’s the normal return to play timeframe from being dead?”

Another jibed: “Sorry to hear of your untimely demise.”

Taupau himself is gearing up for a big season with Manly after previously being linked with a move away during the 2021 NRL season.
