Trent Robinson is backing the Super League fans to make a huge impact at next year’s Las Vegas event with a huge crowd increase expected.
The inaugural Las Vegas event held earlier this year saw four NRL teams take place, however, a Super League clash between Wigan Warriors and Warrington Wolves as well as a Women’s international Test will also take place in the city for the 2025 edition.
Obviously, with more on show, a larger crowd would be expected but it’s now being reported down under that the crowd is ‘likely to exceed 60,000’, a massive increase from the 40,000 who turned out in 2024.
That’s per NRL.com who also spoke with Sydney Roosters head coach Trent Robinson with the ex-Catalans Dragons boss incredibly positive about the Super League influence on those reported ticket sales.
Robinson coached Catalans for two seasons, earning Super League Coach of the Year in his maiden campaign, but since 2013 he’s been in charge of the Roosters, leading them out at Las Vegas in 2024.
His side would defeat Brisbane Broncos and he’s argued that the double-header at Allegiant Stadium served as a launchpad for a brilliant NRL season.
Super League tipped to massively boost Las Vegas in 2025
Speaking to NRL.com, Robinson said: “The excitement when we came home was so high. With how early the NRL put it on, it created this great launching pad for everybody to say ‘I want to go’.”
It seems that the attitude of ‘I want to go’ is one held by many with recent reports suggesting a huge crowd with Super League fans expected to make up at least 10,000 of those.
On Las Vegas as a venue, Robinson laid on the praise whilst touting the Super League fans to make a major difference this time around.
“The sin city part [is an old label],” he explained.
“Las Vegas has so many things for families now, so that whole once in a lifetime trip for people in Australia [is an option]. Now with England, wait until you see those fans travel. I don’t see why it’s not an event every year for a long period of time.”
Reflecting further on 2024, the 47-year-old said: “That was the best season launch I’ve seen in rugby league. It was the most amazing experience that the teams and fans had, and next season will be bigger than ever.
“I was proud to be a rugby league fan in Las Vegas. It’s the best away venue in sport and I was proud of the way the NRL launched the season. It led us into one of the better viewing seasons of rugby league that we’ve had because of the season launch.”
For Super League, the game between Wigan Warriors and Warrington Wolves will be a Round Three game and this past weekend, representatives from each team have been stateside to take in the spectacle.
