NRL coach reveals how he brought “half of Wakefield Trinity’s squad” to Australian club

Jason Demetriou has gone on some career journey.
The versatile grafter, made his name at Wakefield Trinity from 2004-10 prior to joining Keighley Cougars after helping Trinity to their highest ever finish in Super League history in 2009 when they finished fifth.
He went on to coach the Cougars which helped him on the path to being South Sydney Rabbitohs Head Coach.
On the road from the Cougars to the Bunnies, he moved to Northern Pride as he returned home for the first time in years.
In recruitment at the Pride, he brought “half the Wakefield Trinity” squad.
Speaking on St Helens legend James Graham’s podcast, The Bye Round, Demetriou spoke about bringing some of his old teammates over to Australia including the likes of Steve Snitch who also had spells at Huddersfield Giants and Castleford Tigers as well as Tyrone McCarthy who spent time at Leigh Leopards, Salford Red Devils, Hull KR and as a Challenge Cup winner with Warrington Wolves in his Super League career.
Demetriou explained:
“I did yeah, you’ve got to call your mate. We had Semi Tadulala, Sam Obst I convinced Sam to come back and he is still there as assistant coach, Steve Snitch, Tyrone McCarthy who was outstanding for us.
“I used some of my contacts in England, it was good to have some familiar faces.”
