As most of the focus right now in Super League is on recruitment and departures for 2024, one immediate departure was confirmed yesterday and it had been long expected.

After being a major signing ahead of the 2022 campaign, Kane Evans has left the club with immediate effect as announced by the club yesterday.

The Black and Whites haven’t been on the best form this season and Evans hasn’t featured for around a month.

There was plenty of speculation surrounding the big forward and the club have now confirmed his departure.

In a statement on their website the Airlie Birds announced the news.

“Hull FC can confirm that Kane Evans has been released from his contract by mutual consent.

“Evans will return to Australia for personal reasons.

“The club wishes him well for the future.”

Evans had arrived in Hull prior to the 2022 season but in this, his second season he’s struggled to make the same impact. Injuries and suspensions have worked against the big forward during his time in the UK.

Prior to his Super League career he had impressed with Sydney Roosters, Parramatta Eels before a short sting with New Zealand Warriors rounded off his NRL career before his release.

Whether he’ll do next is unclear at the moment given that the release has been granted due to personal reasons. Evans would have been off contract at the end of the season anyway.

It is being reported by Zerotackle that it is unlikely that any NRL club will take a punt of the forward.
