It has been confirmed that North Queensland Cowboys’ all-time top try-scorer will be leaving the club, with suggestions that he could move to Super League.
Kyle Feldt, now 32 years-old, has been with the Cowboys for his entire professional career, playing over 200 games for the NRL side.
A former Queensland State of Origin representative, the winger has been chosen in the Prime Minister’s XIII.
He has also represented Australia in nines, but not for the full 13-a-side team.
In 2015, he was part of the Premiership winning side and in 2016, won the World Club Challenge.
This year, he has had an impressive campaign again – breaking Matt Bowen’s club record for tries and notably scoring a hattrick in a victory over Cronulla Sharks.
Kyle Feldt set for Super League move in 2025?
Now, it has been confirmed that he won’t stay beyond 2024, leaving for the first time – even progressing through the club’s youth ranks.
He’ll be remembered for scoring a late game-leveller in the 2015 Grand Final victory which allowed the side to win its first-ever Premiership.
He told the club: “This hasn’t been an easy decision to make, but I feel the time is right.
“I have been very fortunate to live out my childhood dream to play NRL for my hometown team for 11 years.
“The club has given me the opportunity to stay home where many other professional athletes have had to move away from their family.
“I’ve made some amazing memories and lifelong friends.”
With big sides such as St Helens looking for an outside back – especially after losing Tommy Makinson – it could be that he decides to head to Super League for 2025.
He would, of course, not be affected by reported Super League quota rule changes for 2026, as a newcomer, but his quality is undeniable and has try-scoring know-how that any club would love to have in their ranks.
