NRL club want Super League star immediately

Will Pryce and Kai Pearce-Paul are now officially headed to the NRL.

It comes after almost a year of speculation and negotiations with their new club the Newcastle Knights trying to sign them for 2023.

In the end, it was agreed Pryce and Pearce-Paul will remain in Super League for one more season with Pryce set to star for Huddersfield Giants in 2023 and Pearce-Paul remaining with the Wigan Warriors this term.

They will then both join the Knights, alongside former Castleford Tigers man Bailey Hodgson who is already at the club alongside Great Britain international and former Salford Red Devils star Jackson Hastings, in 2024.

The two have both signed two-year deals with the Knights meaning they will remain at the club for the 2024 and 2025 NRL seasons.

Only then could a return to Super League be on the cards.

It will be interesting to see what role they play within the squad. Young spent much time in the reserve side developing in his first year with the Knights prior to exploding into a super star, could they try the same approach with these two.

Equally, it will be interesting to see where the two play. Pryce has played in the halves and at fullback in Super League whilst Pearce-Paul has played both in the back-row and at centre.

However, now a spanner has been thrown into the works with the Daily Telegraph and Zerotackle reporting that the Knights have made an approach to Wigan Warriors to bring Pearce-Paul to the club immediately though the Warriors are said to be against the idea.
