NRL club set to sign Jackson Hastings

Jackson Hastings (31) of Wigan Warriors in action during the game

Wigan halfback Jackson Hastings is apparently close to signing a deal with NRL side Wests Tigers for 2022, according to WWOS.

The number seven has repeatedly hit the headlines in the past few seasons, winning the Man of Steel and attracting a number of suitors from abroad. But, his Wigan contract runs out at the end of 2021.

Hastings has been back in Australia during the holiday period and, with the Tigers losing both Benji Marshall and Josh Reynolds, it almost seems a perfect fit.

The Australian made his debut for Sydney Roosters in 2014 before a less-than successful spell at Manly paved the way for a move to Super League outfit Salford Red Devils midway through 2018. A Grand Finalist with Salford in 2019 and Wigan in 2020, the halfback has taken to the English game like a duck to water.

But, it now appears as though a renaissance with Australia’s most prestigious league is on the cards. A move had previously been rumoured before the start of the 2020 Super League season, yet that didn’t materalise. Now, though, the Wigan star looks to be on his way.
