The best signings can be transformative as we have seen with Jamie Peacock at Leeds Rhinos, Stuart Fielden at Wigan Warriors and Ben Barba at St Helens. In recent times we have seen more transformative signings such as Jake Clifford at Hull FC, Lachlan Lam at Leigh Leopards and some of the signings at Salford Red Devils.
The Red Devils have brought in the likes of Tim Lafai in recent times among others who have taken the club from the difficulties of 2021 to being a real play-off contender and one of the most exciting teams to watch in Super League.
However, one of them has become a very real target for an NRL club who could be set to fight for his signature despite his mammoth contract.
The stand-off was unplayable late into the 2022 Super League season.
He guided the Red Devils to the play-offs from an unlikely position tearing teams apart with his running game.
The stand-off won the Man of Steel as consequence and took Salford all the way to the semi-finals.
However a head injury ruled him out of the clash against St Helens and he could have been the difference in what was a disappointing day for the club.
The club were proactive about his future signing him to a huge eight year deal but that hasn’t stopped NRL club Wests Tigers from having an interest in the star stand-off with the Daily Telegraph reporting that he is now a potential target for the club.
Now the same publication have suggested Benji Marshall and the Tigers would be prepared to battle for his signature.
The Tigers have lost Luke Brooks to Manly Sea Eagles in 2024 after he was linked with a move to Leeds Rhinos.
Reports suggest that the Tigers are also interested in former Huddersfield Giants man Jack Cogger.
