NRL CEO speaks out on interest in St Helens’ Morgan Knowles

Dolphins CEO Terry Reader has confirmed he is keen to take St Helens’ Morgan Knowles to the NRL. It comes following a report from Rugby League Live that claimed discussions had taken place between Knowles and the Australian outfit about a potential switch.

Knowles has been at St Helens his entire career so far, with the England international celebrating a testimonial year in 2025. However, he is in the final year of his deal at the Totally Wicked Stadium and therefore clubs are able to approach him should they be interested in his services.

Speaking to Serious About RL last week, Knowles made it clear that he hopes to have clarity on his future before the start of the season.

However, it seems there’s a chance his future could lie away from St Helens with Reader confirming his club’s interest in the loose-forward, who he spent three successful seasons working under earlier in his Saints career.

“Woolfy coached him and they won three premierships together at St Helens,” Reader said, per the Daily Telegraph.

“He wants to test himself in the NRL. There is interest to talk to him but that’s where it is at the moment.

“We are always interested in good players, especially if they want to play for us. We’ll have a chat and see what happens.”

Knowles has made 218 appearances for St Helens so far in his career and as it stands he is preparing for his 12th season as a Super League player. As such, he is looking to get his hands on a fifth Super League title, while he also has Challenge Cup and World Club Challenge winners’ medals at home.

Of course, his future appears to be far from decided but if he were to make the move to Queensland to join up with Woolf, he would be joining his England teammate Herbie Farnworth at the club.
