North Wales Crusaders confirm coaching shake-up as former Salford RLFC man lands new role

Salford RLFC head coach Mike Grady

Former Salford RLFC coach, Mike Grady, has landed his first coaching role since leaving the club in March, and he will return to the Championship.

Grady has joined North Wales Crusaders, becoming their new boss in a complete coaching shake-up.

Sean Long was named as the interim boss following the exit of Kirsnan Inu when the club oversaw a financial takeover last month.

Long will remain at the club, and has moved up to a Director of Rugby role, allowing Grady to return to the club as the first team boss.

Crusaders are very much in their infancy as a new club, and with little to no experienced players, they are finding it incredibly tough in the second tier.

After having over 100 points put on them by Batley Bulldogs, over the weekend, Salford RLFC posted 86 points without reply, highlighting the challenges the Welsh side have.

Commenting on his new venture, Grady said: “Really looking forward to being back at the club. I’m grateful to Jamie [El-Kaleh, Chairman]  and the board for making it possible.

“We all know there is a lot of hard work ahead of us, but there are plenty of good people here all working hard and pushing in the right direction.

“It’s not going to happen overnight on the field, but I’m here to make sure we are improving and moving in the right direction.

“I’m looking forward to getting going and seeing all the Crusaders faithful again. I know they will be behind us 100%.”
