No compromising with Shaun Wane, says RFL chief

The RFL chief executive, Ralph Rimmer, has told The Last Tackle podcast that there will not be any compromise with England national coach Shaun Wane over any disruption to the national side caused by his Wigan job.

Wane was appointed into a leadership role by Warriors chairman Ian Lenagan following a disappointing season in 2021, but will still carry on his England duties at the same time.

For Rimmer, however, he knows just how important Wane believes the international calendar is and that he remains fully committed.

“There’s plenty of thinking of that, but we’ve looked at the work he’s done the last couple of years and taken that into consideration,” Rimmer said.

“We’ve had many discussions with Kris Radlinski (general manager at Wigan), and he’s a huge believer in international sport so there won’t be any compromising there and I know exactly what his role will be at the Wigan club.

“His work will ebb and flow a bit between both organisations, but we’re very confident he will be able to deliver what we want at the time.”
