He’s in the conversation for being the best player in Super League but Mikey Lewis is almost undisputed in his status as the player to have opposition fans on strings, something he’s proven once again after Hull KR’s victory over Hull FC.
Hull KR handed out a third derby defeat in 2024 to their cross-city rivals Hull FC as the Robins secured a 24-10 win with Mikey Lewis racking up 12 of those points.
After a slow start cost Hull KR last week against Catalans Dragons, Willie Peters had clearly drilled it into his side to ensure that did not happen again. They responded with three tries scored inside 20 minutes, one of which was scored by Mikey Lewis, whilst he converted all three of them.
From that point onwards Hull KR could be accused of taking their foot of the throat allowing the Black and Whites to finally score a point at home against KR, the last 116 points in this fixture at the MKM Stadium having come for the away side.
Despite the minor fightback, Hull KR had the last laugh with captain Elliot Minchella crossing over and Mikey Lewis adding the final two points to secure the two points, something that Lewis took great pleasure in reminding everyone of – not that they didn’t already know with fans having already hit out at him on social media throughout the game.

Mikey Lewis takes shot at Hull FC and outrages Black and White fans

Taking to social media after the game, Mikey Lewis posted two images of himself celebrating and simply captioned them “Another 2 points at Hull City ground”, a blatant jibe at the fact Hull FC do not own their own stadium.
Quickly taking to the comments to stoke the fire even more, he added: “No bites please” with a lip-licking emoji, clearly relishing the thought of those FC fans that he had wound up with the remark.
One of those ‘fish’ he caught with his bait saw a Hull FC fan make reference to the well-documented fact that Mikey Lewis grew up as a Black and White fan, something he has openly owned.
That didn’t stop FC fans from referencing it as they hit out, one labelling him as “just a wind-up merchant who is a Black and White boy at heart” before advising him to “quit with the drama on the pitch”.

On the pitch this season, Mikey Lewis has scored eight tries and assisted a further 16. That tally of 24 try contributions is over half of FC’s whole season total, whilst Hull KR’s six points earned in the derby this season is incredibly two more than their rivals’ whole campaign.
The Robins returned to third in the table with the win and will aim to break into the top two as they travel to face Leeds Rhinos next week. Meanwhile, Hull FC face a torrid run with leaders Wigan next before taking on Catalans, St Helens and Leigh.
