Nine absolutely unbelievable 2023 Super League statistics

We’re over halfway through the 2023 Super League season.

We’ve played 15 Rounds and we have a further 12 to complete the season but this week we have a week off from Super League as the Challenge Cup quarter-finals take place.

So we decided to look back at 10 stunning statistics from the 2023 Super League season.

1. Bevan French of Wigan Warriors has made 92 tackle busts (the next best is Tom Johnstone with 72) in just 231 carries meaning that on 39.8% he busts a tackle. He is also the only man with double digit tries and assists (11 tries and 14 assists).

2. Leigh Leopards star John Asiata has made 349 carries which is second most in the league and just six behind George Williams, despite being a loose forward. All but two of the top ten players for most carries are halves or full-backs. Leeds Rhinos’ Cameron Smith is the other ranked 9th with 263.

3. Huddersfield Giants forward Seb Ikahihifo has made 66 tackle busts on 101 carries which is a 66% rate and highest in the comp for players with at least 100 carries

4. Tom Johnstone has the highest average gain of players with over 400 metres with 9.38 metres per carry.

5. There have only been 15 40/20s all season and Leeds Rhinos have kicked five of those

6. St Helens’ Tommy Makinson scored 28 points at Magic Weekend, a Magic record topping the one previously held by Sean Long.

7. Mikey Lewis has missed more kicks (9) than he’s scored (8).

8. Hull KR have lost four of their six games without Jordan Abdull. He also left the field when Rovers were 2-0 up against Catalans in their most recent loss, which would make it five out of six losses didn’t feature him.

9. Castleford Tigers average less points at home (9.375) than Wakefield Trinity do (10). Tigers also average more points on the road (11.66) than at Wheldon Road.
