Paul McShane is on the radar of NRL outfit Newcastle Knights.

Reports in today’s League Weekly say the Knights are looking to improve their options at hooker and see the 29-year-old as a potential buy.

McShane’s current deal runs until the end of 2022 meaning Castleford may demand a five-figure sum to acquire his services.

With 250 first grade appearances, McShane has come into his own since signing for the Tigers in 2015.

He has made 120 appearances for Cas and was part of the team that won the 2017 League Leaders’ Shield.

Although international recognition has been mentioned, McShane has yet to receive a call up and a move down under may be seen as his best route in.

Newcastle currently sit fifth on the NRL ladder and are enjoying a good season under former Huddersfield and St Helens head coach Nathan Brown.
