New Zealand Warriors’ Charnze Nicoll-Klokstad ‘set for Super League move despite NRL offer’

Super League

New Zealand Warriors full-back Charnze Nicoll-Klokstad could be ready to make the move from the NRL to Super League in 2026.

That’s according to the Daily Telegraph, who claim the New Zealand international has interest from Super League and could be set to reject an NRL deal to make the switch to the Northern Hemisphere. A specific club hasn’t been named by the Aussie outlet, but it’s fair to say only one or two Super League sides will be looking for a full-back heading into next season.

Nicoll-Klokstad has been with the Warriors since the start of the 2023 season and in that time he has made 44 appearances for the club. He’s touched down on 13 occasions, too, with the 29-year-old scoring frequently for his home town club.

However, he is approaching the end of his contract with the Warriors and his future is very much up in the air.

Nicholl-Klokstad started his career with the Warriors and scored seven tries in his first seven appearances before moving on to join Canberra Raiders in 2019. It was in the capital where he really made his name in the NRL, thriving under the stewardship of Ricky Stuart and in his first season with the Raiders, he helped them to the 2019 Grand Final.

He went on to spend four seasons with the Green Machine, making 66 appearances and scoring 23 tries. He has 13 caps for New Zealand under his belt and last represented the Kiwis in November against Papua New Guinea, with his try helping Stacey Jones’ side avoid Pacific Championships relegation.

So, where could Nicholl-Klokstad land if he was to make the move to Super League? Well, Leigh Leopards, Wigan Warriors, St Helens, Hull FC, Hull KR, Warrington Wolves, Wakefield Trinity, Huddersfield Giants and Leeds Rhinos are among the clubs who appear to have their number one spot wrapped up for next season.

That does leave Catalans Dragons as a potential option, though. The Dragons have seen Arthur Mourgue leave the club this month and with Sam Tomkins’ future undecided, that’s a deal that seems to make sense before considering the club’s open quota situation and the fact that he knows Elliott Whitehead and Nick Cotric from Canberra.
