New Warrington Wolves trio outline experiences after returning for pre-season

Billy Magoulias, Peter Mata’utia and Daryl Powell are all new at the Halliwell Jones Stadium.

Magoulias has arrived from NRL side Cronulla Sharks, whilst Mata’utia and Powell have both come from the Castleford Tigers – the latter after almost nine years.

All three took part in their first training session of pre-season yesterday and all three had something to say following the culmination of that session.

“It’s been really enjoyable,” Magoulias told the Warrington Wolves website.

“I’ve got to meet all the lads this morning – I’m just getting used to the weather and getting some training under my belt.”

Mata’utia added: “It’s been good a bit of a light day, some skills and a bit of fun with the boys.

“We’ve got a bit of testing tomorrow, but overall it’s just good to finally meet the whole team and get a bit of a run around.”

For head coach Powell, it’s only the second job he has had in nine years so he knows just how much it will take getting used to for his new players.

“It’s been a long time coming so it’s great to get out there today.

“We had a meeting this morning and I laid out some standards and the way I like to do things.

“It’s good to get the first day out the way, the boys were pretty good, but there’ll be a lot of new things thrown at them.”
