New twist in Will Pryce’s future

Ian Watson has spoken out against rumours that starlet Will Pryce could be the subject of an NRL offer after taking Super League by storm in 2021.

The Daily Telegraph had reported that an NRL “heavyweight” had been made aware of Pryce’s performances and would be keeping tabs on him.

Pryce has only played six games for the Giants in 2021, but has caught the eye with every passing minute, taking the line on and following in the footsteps of father Leon who was part of both the Bradford and St Helens golden eras.

But, Watson has confirmed that the teenage halfback has signed a new long-term contract at Huddersfield, saying this was in the pipeline months ago.

“Within a month of Will and Fenton Rogers coming up into the first-team, I spoke to the club about signing them both up long-term,” Watson said.

“Will has signed up and we’re really happy with where we are with him.

“But we will look after him the right way, and there’s always going to be interest in good players.

“Will wants to be a top player and you’ll get that speculation for however long he’s with us, but hopefully he’s with us for a long time – and he’s going nowhere.”

Pryce will be in action as the Giants take on Salford tonight.
