New twist in Wayne Bennett’s coaching future

NRL veteran coach and former England boss Wayne Bennett has said that he will not make a rash decision on his future.

It comes after Bennett failed in his bid to steer the South Sydney Rabbitohs to victory in the NRL Grand Final at the weekend, with Souths going down 14-12 in a highly entertaining affair.

Bennett has also revealed that he will consult with the Rabbitohs before he moves on, as assistant Jason Demetriou takes over the reins ahead of the 2022 NRL season.

The supercoach’s availability is likely to cause a stir in the market as a number of NRL sides look to improve on their disastrous seasons in 2021.

Bennett was head coach of Great Britain on their ill-fated tour of Australia in 2019 and subsequently left his post to return to the NRL.
