Toulouse Olympique went down valiantly to Catalans Dragons and then Hull KR over the Easter Weekend.
Losing by eight points against the Dragons and then just four to Rovers shows that Toulouse are building for a determined go at staying in Super League.
One of the French club’s bright sparks this season is new signing Guy Armitage, who joined Toulouse initially on a trial deal last season after going to France to play in the suspended Elite 2 Championship season.
He started his career in rugby union, playing for Wasps, London Irish, London Welsh and Toulon, before switching codes to join London Broncos.
Since signing a deal with Toulouse, Armitage has become one of Sylvain Houles’ most trusted members of the squad and has been in superb form at the start of the 2022 campaign.
However, it has now been confirmed that the 30-year-old suffered a fractured larynx against Catalans and is expected to be out for around two months in a bitter blow.
Toulouse have won just one game all year which came against St Helens, but they have pushed all their opponents close in what has been a baptism of fire for the newly-promoted side.
Remember, also, that they have lost their two talismanic playmakers in Mark Kheirallah and Johnathon Ford who have both joined Featherstone Rovers.
