The standard of refereeing in Rugby League and the standard of the fourth official, if there is one, is lamentable. Referees are supposed to enforce the laws fairly and evenly. They are not supposed to enforce some rules and let us go. They are supposed to watch the game and with their other officials should see things that they apparently don’t. One of the referees mentioned in the title is famous for not watching the game very closely, and then guessing. It’s the same in football and in Union, the more referees watching the game the poorer the decisions. I don’t understand why.
