One Championship rugby league side has seen a new signing teased by their CEO in a wholly positive update.
Doncaster Rugby League Football Club had a brilliant first campaign back in the Championship but fell just shy of the play-offs, however, their 2024 was an unequivocal success.
Off-field projects undertaken and overseen by outgoing Head of Development Josh Riding have seen the club become a true hub in the community, helping to level up those in the town whilst also providing building blocks for their own development as a club.
Doncaster Chief Executive Officer Carl Hall paid tribute to Riding in a recent update from the club on X, explaining: “It was a real shock to us, Josh Riding got an opportunity to join Leeds in a different role – something that he has probably wanted to do for some time.
“He’s done a wonderful job here and he’s left the place in a really good spot.”
Hall would also note the state of the squad following the Dons’ recruitment whilst hinting that it might not be over yet with a date teased for when a new signing could be announced.

After securing promotion to the Championship, Doncaster surprised plenty by finishing eighth, just three points shy of the play-offs and Hall has spoken positively on the squad ahead of 2025.
“Richard (Horne) is really happy with them,” he explained.
“There is no hiding place, they’ve got the GPS at training now so they can see the miles that they’re doing and how quick they’re going. They’ve got a weekly competition going of who is the fastest, fittest and ran the most – they’re putting the work in.”
“There is only Tyla (Hepi) who is not training – well, he trains all of the time but he is the only long-term injury. He’s out till March.”
Signings for 2025 so far have included former Super League men Josh Bowden and Jacob Jones, who only add to the impressive recruitment of 2024 that saw the likes of Reece Lyne and Alex Sutcliffe.
Previewing the club’s upcoming ‘Lunch with the legends’ on January 5th, Hall even teased that a new signing could be announced that day, stating: “There are a few other things that are going to go on. There could be a new player, I don’t know – we’ll see.”
The air of positivity at the club has also correlated to strong season tickets which are going ‘really well’ per Hall.
He added: “In the first week, I think we sold more than we ever sold and we’re on target for what we want to achieve – we’re just over 400 now which for this time of the year is phenomenal.”
