New signing set for debut this weekend as squads named

Wakefield Trinity are still chasing their first win of the season and there is no extra pressure on them.

This is because last night Castleford Tigers defeated Leeds Rhinos meaning Trinity are the only side remaining who are yet to win in 2023.

It doesn’t get any easier for them as they take on Salford Red Devils this weekend away after the Red Devils won 60-14 against Hull FC last week.

Mark Applegarth has named his squad for the game with Max Jowitt, Tom Lineham, Lee Gaskell, and Samisoni Langi out.

Gaskell picked up a pec injury against Leeds last week whilst Langi suffered a head knock.

There could be a debut for Sam Hewitt after his loan move from Huddersfield Giants was confirmed last Saturday.

Meanwhile youngsters Oliver Pratt and Robbie Butterworth are included in the squad after impressing in pre-season.

Harry Bowes is also back in the squad after injury.

Salford meanwhile are still without Joe Burgess which will mean Rhys Williams remains on the wing.

After naming a 19-man squad last week and hinting that it would be a similar situation this week, Paul Rowley has in fact named a 21-man squad.

Matt Costello features after missing the game against Hull FC despite being on the bench at this stage.

Sam Stone is also back in the mix.

James Greenwood and Ryan Lannon have left the club on loan to Swinton Lions.
