Widnes Vikings have confirmed that off season signing Will Evans will be returning home to Australia in the next week.
Will requested a release from his contract on compassionate grounds which the club has granted.
The club has stated that is disappointing to lose Will after only featuring in one pre-season fixture, but that they respect his decision to return home to be with his family.
Everyone at the club has also wished Will well and thanked him for his short spell in Vikings colours.
The club also stated that they are actively seeking additions to the squad, which has started the season with three wins from four.
The Vikings laid down a marker yesterday defeating promotion rivals Halifax Panthers 42-14.
The Panthers have finished third in the last two seasons and were tipped to be a team that could push for top spot alongside Featherstone Rovers but under John Kear the Vikings look better placed at this point despite this latest setback.
The Vikings brought in Super League talent such as Kyle Amor as well this off season.
Amor has won four Super League titles.
