New signing in line for Castleford Tigers debut

Castleford Tigers face a tough test as they welcome the red hot Leigh Leopards to the Mend-A-Hose Jungle this Friday.

The Tigers come into the game off a much improved month, which saw them down Leeds Rhinos and Warrington Wolves, and whilst they saw more positives against St Helens they ultimately fell short against the World Champions.

Across the park they are starting to click, especially half-backs Gareth Widdop and Jacob Miller. Jason Qareqare has also been a crucial cog in their attack since his return to the side. They will all need to be at their best if they are to topple the Leopards on Friday.

In team news, Andy Last has made two changes to his 21-man-squad for Leigh game, which sees new loan signing Jordan Johnstone selected and is in line for his debut. Elliot Wallis returns to the side following injury, however there is no room for Mahe Fonua or Jacob Hookem in the side this week. Liam Watts is included after his suspension was overturned, and the veteran prop is in line for his 300th Super League appearance.

This season has been the stuff of dreams for the Leythers. They currently sit second in the table, and after their run of nine straight wins in all competitions was put to an end in Perpignan they responded perfectly by tearing apart Hull KR.

The victory in East Yorkshire showed the Leopards at their best. They play a great brand of attacking rugby and have a consistent spine. Lachlan Lam, Edwin Ipape, Ben Reynolds and Gareth O’Brien are at the heart of their style of play, and if they are at their best on Friday it could be a long night for the Wheldon Road faithful.

Adrian Lam has named a 20-man-squad to take on the Tigers this week, which sees Aaron Smith and Nathan Wilde return to the side. There is no room for St Helens loanee Dan Norman this week. In form forward John Asiata is included, and is in line to be a part of a strong pack alongside Robbie Mulhern and Tom Amone.
