Marc Sneyd’s move to the Salford Red Devils seemed to take almost everyone by surprise when it was announced.
Having been at Hull FC for seven seasons, winning back-to-back Challenge Cups in the meantime, Sneyd was probably expected to finish his career off in East Yorkshire.
However, a move back ‘home’ to his first club Salford left the door open for Leeds Rhinos’ Luke Gale to move to Hull and new Red Devils recruit Brodie Croft has revealed just how excited he is to partner Sneyd after training with him.
“I’m loving learning off Sneydy,” Croft told Red Devils TV.
“I’ve done a bit of background research on him and he’s done a lot in Super League.
“I’ve been learning a lot off him, he’s a crafty little halfback, he plays to his strengths really well and I feel like he’s got a lot to give me and I’ve got a lot to give him too.
“As a halfback partnership we have a lot to give and can really steer this side around.”
Croft himself joins from the Brisbane Broncos following an uncertain year in the NRL.
The Australian made his NRL professional debut in 2016 for Melbourne Storm, where he spent three years in the halves before moving to Brisbane Broncos in 2019.
Croft won the World Club Challenge with Melbourne in 2018 and was part of the Storm side that made the NRL Grand Final that year.
