New NRL side Dolphins set to make huge bids for Super League stars

South Sydney head coach Wayne Bennett confirmed that some players had been sent for Covid-19 tests, which have since come back negative.

It’s been a story that’s done the rounds in recent days but now the Dolphins are set to make huge bids for Super League stars.

That’s according to zerotackle which has revealed that the new NRL side from 2023 will attempt to build a formidable team for their inaugural season with a number of Super League targets in their sights.

With the Rugby League World Cup around the corner at the end of 2022, Canberra have already outlined their desire set to send over a gaggle of officials in a bid to lure one talented superstar to the NRL.

That man is Huddersfield Giants fullback Will Pryce, according to the Daily Telegraph.

The Raiders, according to the newspaper, have kickstarted interest by making contact with ex-St Helens and Hull FC halfback Leon Pryce – Will’s father.

English agents confirmed to the Daily Telegraph that Canberra had contacted Leon Pryce about his son, although Raiders CEO Don Furner remained coy about any such approach.

“We are always interested in good, young players,” Furner said.

“We have a desire to go over to England.

“We try to go overseas every four or five years to freshen up the staff and coaches.

“There hasn’t been much international travel over the past few years but this would be an opportunity to take over some coaching and marketing staff.

“We would check out the World Cup, scout for young players and also see what is happening over there in the world of sport. We don’t go every year.”

Pryce does, however, have two years remaining on his current contract at Huddersfield so it would take a hefty fee for the club to let go.

But, with the Dolphins ready to put a talented roster together for 2023 and beyond, will British stars be lured abroad?
