New Championship signing seemingly leaves club as he returns to Australia

Earlier this year Bradford Bulls announced that Betfred League One Winner Dalton Desmond-Walker has signed a one-year deal with the club.

The former Keighley man, who was part of their unbeaten League One winning campaign joins up with Mark Dunning’s Squad in 2023, after impressing in the Reserves in 2022!

Desmond-Walker, who is originally from Australia, joined the club on dual-reg last season and put in a number of good performances in the Reserves, and more recently in the fixture vs Greece, as the national side warmed up ahead of their World Cup campaign.

“It’s a proud day for me and my family, to be a part of a historic organisation and team such as the Bradford Bulls, I cannot wait to get started”, said Dalton at the time.

“Personally, I’m thrilled to sign here, my family are both fans of the sport and have supported me since I was young, they’re both so proud of me.

“I’m ready to start pre-season and rip in, I can’t wait to meet the other blokes and start a new chapter in my career in Rugby League, the excitement and a goal to achieve is going to help create a buzz around the stadium.

“The brand is renowned in Rugby League, so the chance to pull on the jersey and create new moments to cherish as well as earning the respect of the fans and staff alike was one I couldn’t turn down.”

However, now the 29 year-old seems set to not play for the Bulls as he returns to Australia.

In a statement on Instagram, he said:

“January 8th 2018 Cardiff, Wales U. December 28th 2022 ~ Manchester, England . 1815 days away from Sydney, Australia.

“Five rugby league seasons in League One. Got to play for a few clubs here. Visited countless European countries. Fell in love, broke hearts & felt heartache, cried tears of joy & sadness. Made memories I’ll cherish forever.

“Some friendships & relationships I’ll keep in my heart forever. Won a trophy here, played international footy here, few surgeries later & got some metal in my hand.

“Explored almost every part of the U.K.! From the Scottish islands down to the south west Welsh coast!

“To those who will read this with confusion please know I didn’t keep it from you for a negative reason. Way too many people to name & thank, countless photos & videos to post.

“It might be strange but I’m leaving the U.K. as I arrived. Alone & in a hotel with a suitcase. Not really sure on the next 1815 days ahead. Left home at 24 & called Great Britain home till right now as a 29 year old.

“People here of Sydney & assume it’s all soft sand & eucalyptus trees in this motherfucker & but l’m from a place out west with some of the highest crime rates in the whole country. My little story isn’t great but it’s been a great experience and chance to make myself better & give some positive light on a few of my childhood friends.”
