Luke Robinson has ruled himself out of becoming Castleford Tigers’ next head coach, despite joining the coaching ranks in recent weeks.
Robinson, who returns to coaching for the first time since his exit from Huddersfield Giants earlier this season, has landed at the Tigers following the exit of Ryan Carr – but he will not be the Australian’s replacement.
The ex-half-back has signed a multi-year deal to be an assistant coach, and that is the only role he sees himself in for the foreseeable future.
Asked if he would be throwing his hat in the ring to replace Carr, Robinson swiftly replied: “No.
“That’s from a personal decision as well. No, I won’t.
“I’ll aid the club as much as I can, if they want my advice or anything else. I’m here as an assistant coach, me and the club are in a mutual agreement with that.
“Both sides are really comfortable with it, and I’m really excited about the vision that the owner gave me.”

Robinson explained how he had to cut short a family holiday in order to take on the role, highlighting his commitment to his new club.
There has always been that desire to return to the sport, and the former Huddersfield boss said that he had a number of conversations with other clubs regarding opportunities of different varieties.
“Rugby league’s in my blood, really,” he explained. “I’ve always really, really enjoyed coaching – I think I’m good at it.
“It’s not a job, it’s a bit of a passion. I was in talks with a couple of other clubs about different roles within the game, so there was a little bit of that going on in the background.
“This came up, so I snatched it with both hands and cancelled the holiday. It’s alright, I cancelled my own wedding once upon a time.”
