My Top 5: Josh Drinkwater names the best 5 players he has played against

The latest ‘My Top 5’ comes from halfback Josh Drinkwater, who is currently playing in the Super League for Catalans Dragons after spells at Hull KR, London Broncos and Leigh Centurions.

Below are, in Josh’s words, the five best players he has played against in his career.

5. Jonny Lomax

The best player in Super League in my opinion. He is just so dangerous with the ball and his running game is as good as his ball-playing game. Lomax constantly puts defences under pressure.

4. Kallum Watkins

I remember playing for London against Leeds and his footwork made a player trip over his own feet. He was the best centre in the world at one stage.

3. John Bateman

He’s strong, tough and skilful. He’s a player that you can’t really do homework on because he’s so unpredictable and can do so many things at the highest level in the game.

2. James Roby

Roby is a legend of the game and just feels like he is always one play ahead of the game. He’s an 80-minute hooker whose defence is as good as his attack and, obviously, he’s a superb leader.

1. Shaun Johnson

Shaun is just an absolute freak and a player with all the skills in the world. He plays touch football against you and can make you silly at any time.
