Mose Masoe takes first unassisted steps after spinal injury

Mose Masoe has shared a video of himself walking unassisted for the first time since sustaining a serious spinal injury in pre-season.

The 30-year-old was stretchered off the field after being involved in an awkward tackle during Hull KR’s friendly with Wakefield in January, before being rushed to Wakefield’s Pinderfields Hospital for emergency surgery.

After spending 13 weeks in hospital he returned home earlier this month to continue his recovery and has now shared his miraculous progress on Twitter.

He posted a video of him walking unassisted, with his children holding his walking frame and encouraging him to take steps towards them.

He captioned it: “Pinderfields laid the platform, now my two little home physios are setting the bar. Still a long way to go but forever grateful for what I have. Hope everyone’s well through this lockdown.”

The video was met with much support from players past and present, including Josh Griffin, Aaron Heremaia, Iafeta Palea’aesina and Frank Pritchard.
