Morgan Knowles says St Helens don’t get enough credit

Morgan Knowles has been a key member of this current St Helens dynasty since it started winning trophies.

He has been part of trophy celebrations for three League Leaders’ Shields in 2018, 2019 and 2022, the Challenge Cup in 2021 and of course four consecutive Grand Final wins from 2019-22.

The four in a row is unprecedented and underlines St Helens’ recent supremacy.

However, for Knowles, he still thinks this side don’t get the credit they deserve.

He said: “I have said in the past that I don’t think we do get enough credit but maybe this group will be looked back on and get credit later down the line.”

This is perhaps why the World Club Challenge is so important for Knowles and St Helens.

Winning the World Club Challenge down under hasn’t been done this century by any English side and this Penrith Panthers side is a special side having won back-to-back titles.

On the magnitude of winning this, Knowles said:

“It would be massive, it something that this group hasn’t been able to do because of the pandemic the opportunity has been taken away from us so there is probably a little more importance than there has been.

“I want to tick that box, I want to win it.

“This is something as a group that we have not done. It would be another thing that would put us up as one of the best teams.”
