Morgan Knowles disputes claim Super League is “a second tier competition” compared to the NRL

Morgan Knowles and St Helens won’t need added motivation as they go over to Australia to play Penrith Panthers in the World Club Challenge on February 18th.

That is because the Super League Champions are a winning machine. Nonetheless, it seems they have been given other reasons to go down under and win.

For Knowles one of those is the fact Super League is disregarded down under as “a second tier competition.”

“We are seen as a second tier competition,” he said to Serious About Rugby League.

“We are going to be seen as underdogs, to go over there and win in their back yard would add a cherry on the cake but winning it is the main thing.”

He elaborated on his comments about Super League saying that the top players are just as good as theirs:

“We have a great competition over here, we have great teams and great players.

“I don’t know if the competition as a whole is as good but our top players are as good as theirs. They probably just have more depth and more money.

“We have a great competition over here. I am proud to play in Super League and England.
