The viewing figures for BBC’s coverage of the Super League clash between Hull FC and Salford Red Devils have been confirmed with another somewhat poor showing.
That’s despite a bigger average audience than the week prior when Salford faced Catalans on the same channel.
The viewing figures data has been revealed by Rugby League On TV who shared the information on their X account.
BBC have now shown three Super League games in three weeks and whilst the clash between Hull FC and Salford boasted the largest average audience of the three, at 273,000 viewers, it also marked a decline in peak viewing figure from the week prior.
Moreover, considering Hull FC, one of the best-supported teams in Super League, were on show, the figures can be seen as somewhat disappointing.
That’s perhaps been a good way to surmise the BBC coverage of Super League this season with the competition having months away from the broadcaster before this current run of games, none of which have been standout fixtures due to the fact that the sport’s main broadcaster, Sky Sports, get both first and second pick.
Saturday’s official viewing figures, per Rugby League On TV, show that there was an average audience of 273,000, representing a 3.2% audience share, with a peak of 317,000.
That marked an increase of almost 90,000 for average viewers but a near-50,000 decline in peak audience.

When is Super League next on BBC?
This coming round of games will mark the first since Round 23 not to have BBC coverage with all of the Round 27 games set to be broadcast on Sky Sports and Super League+.
It’s the final round of the regular season and ten of the twelve teams in Super League still have plenty on the line, be it the League Leaders Shield, a top two finish, making the play-offs or even avoiding bottom.
Only the clash between Huddersfield Giants and Castleford Tigers has nothing on the line and even then, there will be plenty of pride with both teams on the end of hammerings in Round 26.
With BBC not showing any of the Round 27 games, their next showing will be in the first round of the play-offs and we have a good idea of where they will be based.
The BBC will showcase the play-off clash between the team in third and the team in sixth, meaning as it stands they will air Warrington Wolves at home to Leigh Leopards but that could still change.
There is a chance that they go to Craven Park but that is only if Hull KR lose to Leeds and Warrington makes up a 17-point gap on points difference with a win over London. Equally, four teams could still finish in sixth.
That game, whoever takes part in it, will be shown on Saturday 28th September on BBC Two with a 5:30 pm kickoff.

What do you expect when the BBC don’t even promote the game, same old tired childish opening graphics and this weekend there were not even any presenters at the actual stadium. Seriously why don’t the BBC just give it up they don’t really bother with the Challenge Cup. BUT if there were a Union game on even a minor game it would get plenty of advertising.
