If there is one team that has gone through the mire with injuries and suspensions in 2022 then it is Leeds Rhinos.

The likes of Harry Newman, Aidan Sezer, Blake Austin and Kruise Leeming have all spent a considerable amount of time on the sidelines this season with head coach Rohan Smith having to continuously tinker with his side.

And, it’s fair to say he has done a commendable job, guiding the West Yorkshire club to the semi-final of the Super League play-offs with an away tie at the Wigan Warriors beckoning this Friday night.

However, Smith will again have a few injury problems to contend with, not least that of forward Mikolaj Oledzki and halfback Aidan Sezer, whilst forward Morgan Gannon will be ruled out due to concussion.

“Mikolaj has got an AC joint injury so he is touch and go,” Smith said.

“We will see how things settle in the next couple of days.

“We’re just letting him recover, I know at this stage he is a tough kid and I know he will want to play. We will assess with the medical team at this stage. He is not ruled out.

“There was only him and Aidan Sezer, he has got a little knee complaint so we will see how that has settled tomorrow. Morgan Gannon will be out due to the concussion.”

Though Harry Newman was included in last week’s 21-man squad, Smith is unsure whether he will play on Friday and the same could be said or David Fusitu’a. However Ash Handley will definitely be out.

“Possibility on both Fusitu’a and Newman but not probable. Ash Handley will not be available.”

It would be a remarkable achievement if the Rhinos make it to the Grand Final given their tough season and the fact that they lost five of their opening six games.
